Happy New Year! I hope that 2015 will be a wonderful year for you and one that is filled with kindness.
Kindness starts at an early age. This Christmas, I received a note from a childhood friend of mine – someone I’ve known since First Grade. She told me that she tells her children all the time how true a friend I was in school and how I’ve been a true friend all these years and across the many miles that separate us. She has a daughter in middle school who is experiencing the trials and tribulations of that time in life and she says she feels the value of our friendship then (and now) more and more. I feel the same about her.
Today, we are both very accomplished women who have experienced life probably far beyond what we ever imagined in our time growing up in a small town. While we didn’t experience the abuse that young women foist on each other today, we weren’t part of the popular crowd. We were respected for our smarts and our other artful talents but we weren’t elected Homecoming Queen. Yet none of that matters today.
No matter what your age or position in life, resolve to be kinder in 2015. And share your stories with me. I’d love to feature them on the blog.
